Sunday-March 27, 2011

"Of course you can do this. It's easy." That's what 'they' said about putting a dash cover on the dashboard in my car. Well today was the day for the job to be done. Rory and I, with great hope, went out to the car with my new dash cover. The velcro tabs were included, directions were pretty clear. We cleaned the dash, stuck the tabs on along the windshield, and proceeded to lay the dash cover over the velcro next to the windshield. "Oh, yeah, this is going to look great," said Rory. I'm thinking it will really protect the dashboard of my car during the summer heat. Unfortunately as soon as we lifted up the dash cover to put more velcro tabs to secure it, the ones next to the windshield lifted right up. THEY DIDN'T STICK!  Not the first, second, or third time we tried.  Crap, what now?

Rory says, "I have some double-sided tape that will stick to anything." Ok, so go get it. Well, it was really sticky so maybe this will work.  Once again, stick on the double-sided tape, put the dash cover on and, it came right off! What is the deal?  We kept trying, and trying.

About an hour later, by mutual decision, we have put off installing the dash cover in my car. We are going to try and find something that will actually stick.  I'm not going to hold my breath!

Moral of this story: Nothing is ever as easy as 'they' tell you it will be.  Live and learn!!
